Virtual Assistant and Online Marketing Advice for Petpreneurs
This past weekend I attended the Inbound Marketing University founded by Hubspot. Laura Fitton from @Pistachio taught a very important class…Twitter. Today I saw this video she created and wanted to share it with you guys. Clients often ask this question “Why would I join Twitter if my clients don’t use it?”. Laura answers this question to the “T” in this video.
Laura’s major points are summarized below.
1) Twitter Page SEO: People can search you in Twitter using a keyword. This can increase your SEO ranking.
2) Research: As a pet business owner you can use Twitter for surveys, research or just gather important information that might help your business.
3) Word-of-Mouth: Connect and engage with your followers and use word-of-mouth to your advantage. The viral nature of Twitter makes word-of-mouth very easy.
4) Public Relations: Create interesting and informative content and the journalist who need your expertise will find you.
I would like to add one more item to this list even though is not discussed in the video - Joint Ventures. You can connect with other pet business owners and come up with a great joint venture that will benefit the parties involved.
And just like Laura said “Serve your community by being helpful. Learn, listen, care, and serve!

What about the best reason of all? Finding NEW customers on Twitter. I’ve also found that my existing customers have signed up for Twitter _because_ of my business. There’s really no good reason to not tweet!

Great point Paul! Getting new customers is also a great benefit that Twitter can provide if you know how to do it right.
