I’ve been curious to find out which social networking sites pet owners prefer to use. There are so many social networking sites out there that sometimes pet sitters get overwhelmed and they are not sure which ones will benefit their business. I created a survey where I asked pet owners questions related to social media. Here are the results…Drum roll!

Question No. 1

Q: Do you use networking sites? (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)

A:

Yes - 100%

No - 0%

Question No. 2

Q: Which networking sites do you currently use? (More than one answer was allowed)

A:

Facebook - 93.8%

Twitter - 87.5%

LinkedIn - 50%

Other (MySpace, Plurk, Blip.fm, FriendFeed) - 18.8%

Question No. 3

Q: Which social networking site would you rather have your pet sitter use? (More than one answer was allowed)

A:

Facebook - 81.3%

Twitter - 50%

Blog - 50%

Other - 0%

This will make it a little easier on pet sitters in deciding which networks to join. Pet owners use Facebook and Twitter without a question. They also prefer for their pet sitters to use Facebook with an even split on Twitter and a blog site. However, for a pet business to be successful using social media I always recommend to use a combination of sites. For example, use Facebook or Twitter to promote your blog post about your pet sitting adventures over the weekend.
