Virtual Assistant and Online Marketing Advice for Petpreneurs
This conversation started in a discussion posted in LinkedIn ~ What is the No.1 thing every pet related business should do to maximize web exposure? Michael Ayalon, CEO of www.petwebdesigner.com, responded to this question with 10 very important points that every pet business should follow if they want to increase their web exposure.
1. Your own hosted Wordpress Blog that you update regularly.
2. Write original pet related articles (600 - 700 words) and submit them to online news feeds.
3. Write a press release and send it to the Associated Press and other news organizations.
4. Get other high ranking pet sites to add your link to their homepage.
5. Classified ads (like Craigslist and Kijiji) in the pet section.
6. Create an original YouTube video with links back to your website.
7. Twitter.com - huge number of pet people on this site. Get involved!
8. Start a newsletter on your site and collect email addresses of visitors to send your newsletter.
9. Answers.Yahoo.com - plenty of pet related questions you can answer and even include a link back to your site for answering it!
10. A search engine friendly corporate website.
Thank you Michael for the top 10 list!
I would like to add that Wordpress.com is just one of the blogging platforms you can use. There are others out there with the similar capabilities, but Wordpress is definitely my favorite one. Look into EnzineArticles.com if you want to submit articles related to your line of work.
As a pet business owner what things to you do to maximize web exposure?

Again, great post. I’ve spent the evening adding my blog (I use Google blogger) to several social websites as well as my website and my photo gallery.
And you’re so right about Twitter. I’ve met so many people around the globe who’ve given valuable advice and feedback. One person helped me update my site and I got so many raves from visitors that I sent my Tweet pal a box of chocolates.

One of the better top 10 lists I’ve seen on the subject, guys! Do you notice the pattern? What all of these have in common is simply this: It’s all about providing value for your users.
If you can provide unique, original value you can succeed. None of the items on the list are particularly difficult, but 97% of the people out there will not do any of them.
If you can manage to do even one or two of the items on a regular, consistent basis, you’ll see improvement in your business.
And Joan, I agree about using Wordpress. It simply can’t be beat for its ease of use, features, and capabilities. And Google seems to reward Wordpress-powered pages (even though the own Blogger!).

Joshua, I agree with you. If people just do 1 or 2 items of this list, their page ranking will def increase.
I had a Blogger site, but I found that Wordpress is so much better. The Wordpress plugins are great additions to your page and so much fun to use. They give the professional look that every page should have.
Joshua, thank you so much for your comment! We’ll connect soon
