Pet Business Marketing FunnelI learned the Internet Marketing Funnel from Business Services, Etc. (BSETC) - a Global Internet Marketing Strategy and Implementation Firm (http://bsetc.ca/home/). BSETC defines a marketing funnel as the process in which you want your clients to take action. I went ahead and duplicated the Marketing Funnel and applied it to the pet industry that I am familiar with.

The largest box, which is the beginning of the funnel, is the Freebie. People love free stuff! The Freebie will get your potential client’s attention. That free bag of natural dog treats, or that discount coupon for a free overnight stay for your pet if you book 4 or more nights with a pet-sitting company. That would keep that person on your website for a little longer. That will make that person click on your services and prices links. You can also take this opportunity to sign them up for your newsletter. Offer them something FREE if they sign-up. For example, if they sign-up for your newsletter, mail them a free bag of dog treats. You are so confident in your product (or service) that you know that the dog will love your treats and the “potential customer” (which is now your actual customer) will go back to your website to order more.

The Intro Service is your chance to get to know the client. Start building that relationship, even if it is a virtual relationship. Use email or even social media networks - Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed or Myspace. Invite them to an event your company is sponsoring…a 5K dog run or a Yappy Hour. You can even give them a call if you have their phone number. Just start that personal relationship with the potential client!

The last and smaller box is what I call the Permanent Client phase. Now, the client knows who you are and what your company stands for. This client will keep coming back when he needs a pet sitter or a dog walker!
