Virtual Assistant and Online Marketing Advice for Petpreneurs
I’ve been talking about blogging lately, so I decided to discuss something that is very important for a blog site…TRAFFIC!
How does your blog get found online? How do you increase the traffic to your blog site?
1. Read other blogs related to your pet business and subscribe to them via RSS or email.
2. Comment on those blog sites. Add value to the blog entry by adding comments - share a link, discuss a point, ask a question. The blog author and other comment writers will notice your comment and click on your website because they want to know who you are.
3. Write, write and write some more and make your blog site functional.
a) Make sure you blog site allows for email and RSS subscription together with “Lets Connect” icons for social media networking sites - Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed, etc.
b) Be creative on your titles, but at the same time keep in mind the SEO keywords.
c) Update your blog at least once a week.
d) Promote you blog when a new entry is posted. Add the new entry link to social media networks you belong to, email it to friends, family, and clients.
So how do you promote your blog site? How do you get more traffic? Share your thoughts and ideas

Thanks, Joan. This has been a big question for me, with a relatively new blog. Your suggestion to promote new entries by email to family, friends and clients brings up an issue I’ve been grappling with. My blog is focused on helpful information for pet owners, but I’m concerned with having family, friends and clients feel spammed by weekly notices that there is a new entry. Any thoughts on this?

Vicki, how are your readers subscribing to your blog? Are you using Feedburner? If you are, you can set it up where your readers can get an update every other week instead of weekly.
You can also use Twitter and Facebook to increase traffic posting links every time you write a new post. Hope this helps!
