For the past couple of days, I’ve been trying my hardest to wrap up the shopping cart integration to The Pet Biz Helper website and yes…it is taking longer than expected. Everyday this week the word Virtual Assistant (VA) was running through my mind. If I had a virtual assistant she can be doing half of the work and I can concentrate on other things of my business or at least spend less time doing the technical things.

As a pet business owner, you always have various tasks you keep procrastinating because you consider them “tedious and annoying”. Using today’s technology you could hire a virtual assistant to help you with the “tedious and annoying” tasks, but also help you with marketing strategies to grow your pet business. There are definitely more than 10 things that you could possibly delegate to a VA, but for the length of this blog entry I’m only going to mention 10 :)

1. Payroll and client invoices

2. If you are considering raising prices, the VA could do an analysis of the current market and competitors to ensure a fair fee increase is being implemented.

3. Create important marketing lists for your market area ~ list of pet-friendly condos/apartments, boarding facilities (for joint venture opportunities), shelters and rescue organizations (for networking purposes and joint venture opportunities), veterinarian offices, and pet-related stores (for networking purposes and joint venture opportunities).

4. Setup and partially manage your social media networking sites like Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.

5. Recommend meetup groups for your pet business to join.

6. Create the newsletter and online surveys for your clients.

7. Input client information in the pet sitting software of your preference and also assist on scheduling pet sitters.

8. Press releases

9. Ads on Craigslist

10. Follow-up with clients to find great testimonials that will work for you website or newsletter.

Hope this articles gives you ideas on items you can delegate while you concentrate on other aspects of your pet business that help it grow and become a more successful.
